2026 FARS Field Day [2025] [2026] [2027]

The Foothills Amateur Radio Society participated in the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) 2026 Field Day event on Saturday June 27^th and Sunday June 28^th.

The event was open to the public and visitors were welcomed from 11 AM until 9 PM on Saturday, June 27^th. Also on Sunday June 28^th from 7 AM until 11 AM. Field Day is an opportunity to see Amateur Radio in action and even participate. Learn about ham radio by participating.

We had a Get On The Air (GOTA) station where new hams and unlicensed people operated an amateur radio station.

FARS operated in the 2A category with two primary HF radio stations on emergency power at a temporary location. We had a total of four operating radio stations:

• HF High Band station operating Single Sideband (SSB) voice on 10/15/20 meters;
• HF Low Band station operating Single Sideband (SSB) voice, and CW on 40 meters during the day, and 80/160 meters at night;

Plus bonus stations:

• VHF/UHF station;
• Get On The Air (GOTA) station (for visitors);

Field Day Captains

KA6MZE	Phil, KA6MZE (our Radio Officer) was in charge of Field Day.
AA6PZ	Paul, AA6PZ was our captain for the HF High band station. The HF High Band station operates primarily on Single Side Band (SSB) Voice on 10/15/20 meters.
WU6P	Nian, WU6P was our captain for the HF Low station. The HF Low Band/CW station operates primarily on Single Side Band (SSB) Voice, and CW on 40/80/160 meters.
KA6MZE	Our captain for the VHF/UHF station was Phil, KA6MZE. The VHF/UHF station operates VHF/UHF voice on 6 meters, 2 meters,and 70cm, and possibly above.
W6VYC	Our captain for the GOTA station was Dave, K6VYC. The GOTA (Get On The Air) station operates HF. The GOTA station is intended to get new/inactive radio operators on the air. This station is meant to allow non-licensed persons a chance experience amateur radio by doing it.

Visitors

We welcomed visitors from the general public to visit our Amateur Radio Field Day between 11 AM until 9 PM on Saturday, June 27^th. Also on Sunday June 28^th from 7 AM until 11 AM.
