The Foothills Amateur Radio Society is participating in the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) 2026 Field Day event on Saturday June 27th and Sunday June 28th.

This event is open to the public and visitors are welcome from 11 AM until 9 PM on Saturday, June 27th. Also on Sunday June 28th from 7 AM until 11 AM. Field Day is an opportunity to see Amateur Radio in action and even participate. Learn about ham radio by participating.

We shall have a Get On The Air (GOTA) station where new hams and unlicensed people may operate an amateur radio station.

Paul, AA6PZ is our captain for the HF High band station. The HF High Band station operates primarily on Single Side Band (SSB) Voice on 10/15/20 meters.

Nian, WU6P is our captain for the HF Low station. The HF Low Band/CW station operates primarily on Single Side Band (SSB) Voice, and CW on 40/80/160 meters.

Our captain for our VHF station is to be announced. The VHF/UHF station operates VHF/UHF voice on 6 meters, 2 meters,and 70cm, and possibly above.

Our captain for the HF GOTA station is to be announced. The GOTA (Get On The Air) station operates HF. The GOTA station is intended to get new/inactive radio operators on the air. This station is meant to allow non-licensed persons a chance experience amateur radio by doing it.

We welcome visitors from the general public to visit our Amateur Radio Field Day between 11 AM until 9 PM on Saturday, June 27th. Also on Sunday June 28th from 7 AM until 11 AM.

Participant Information

We use WriteLog v12 logging software on all stations. The logging systems are networked together using a wireless LAN based on DD-WRT running on a set of WRT54G WiFi routers.

We are using VHF simplex on 146.550 for on site communications. Please bring your portable radio with you.

We using the W6ASH repeater (145.270 MHz / 440.800 MHz) for off site communications. The UHF and VHF are linked during field day.

Setup The setup crew starts at the field day site at 12PM on Friday June 26th.
Takedown The takedown crew starts at 11am on Sunday June 28th.
Potluck The Potluck starts at 5PM on Saturday June 27th. Attendees should pre-register and are expected to bring a side dish to share.
Operate Field Day operations begin at 11am Saturday and end at 11am Sunday.

To reach Rosita Park from Foothill Expressway, turn northwest onto South El Monte Road. Pass Convington Road and take the next right (east) onto Cuesta Drive. Turn right (south) onto Campbell Avenue. Turn right (west) onto Rosita Avenue. Travel about ½ block and look for the park on the right.
