The Foothills Amateur Radio Society participated in the California QSO Party. The contest ran from Saturday October 1 1600 UTC (0900 PDT) through Sunday October 2 2200 UTC (1500 PDT). In the California QSO Party, stations outside of California work as many California stations in as many California counties as possible. Stations in California work everyone.

The operating site is on the Maryknoll Residence soccer field at 23000 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos. On site we have a port-a-potty, electrical power, a BBQ, food, water, and soft drinks. Enough to be comfortable with an all-day stay. This is the same location we use once a year in June for Amateur Radio Field Day. There are a number of tall trees to put a dipole or two and nice view of the Silicon Valley.
Start time is 10:00AM sharp to begin setup. The plan is to keep it simple so we can get on the air quickly. We will have drinks and a BBQ for food in the early afternoon and perhaps later in the day. Takedown sometime after 5:00PM, depending on the level of activity.
We can always use a few more people to help out with setup and takedown. Also, there are plenty of spots available to operate. If you want to help out in any of these areas please contact Michael Pechner, NE6RD. The setting is informal, so you're welcome to bring your own equipment, antennas, power/power cords, and log book to operate on HF bands not being used by the main station.
It is expected that we will operate 40-10 meters depending on activity.
Exchange:
The site is located on Criso Rey Drive across from Rancho San Antonio State Park.
So please come out to make contacts, and don't worry about that the event maybe billed as a contest - FARS would like to make it more of a "party" to enjoy HF operating.
