The FARS / PAARA Winter Banquet was Friday evening, January 20, 2012. The Foothills Amateur Radio Society (FARS) and the Palo Alto Amateur Radio Association (PAARA) presented this ham radio event and fete.

Richard speaks about the history of radio on the high seas with a slide show of photos and a stirring and dramatic narration.

First licensed in 1958 I'm now a proud founding member of the Maritime Radio Historical Society (MRHS). We're dedicated to the preservation of the skills, traditions and lore of maritime radio through the operation of coast station KSM, the first new commercial coast station in decades. Our objective to to acknowledge, honor and commemorate the men and women who made the profession of radiotelegrapher one of honor and skill both ashore and afloat.

Raffle prizes for the Banquet

We had over $1,200 in prizes for the banquet raffle. The major prizes are listed below. The main prize wss a Yaesu FT-857D. A full 100W on all HF bands, plus all mode coverage of 6m, 2m, and 70cm. We had many more prizes not listed here, including over $100 worth of prizes donated by Howard Califf. Thank you Howard.

X30A Dual band Base/Repeater Antenna - 2m/70cm, 150W max. DC grounded. UHF connector and 4.5 ft in height. 135MPH wind rating. Factory adjusted, so no tuning required.	DBJ-2 - Roll up portable 2m/70cm antenna. Each antenna is carefully tuned for best performance on both bands.
DAIWA CS-201 - A 2-position antenna switch good to 600MHz.

Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 12:00 noon on Monday, January 16^th, 2012. Refunds are paid by check. Allow up to 30 days to receive your refund.

PayPal Payments

Full refunds will be given for cancellations received by 12:00 noon on Monday, January 16^th, 2012. However, if the cancellation is more than forty-five (45) days after payment was made, the refund may be reduced to cover processing expenses. Refunds are paid via PayPal. Allow 15 days to receive your refund.
