FARS / PAARA Winter Banquet - January 18, 2013


The FARS / PAARA Winter Banquet is Friday evening, January 18, 2013. The Foothills Amateur Radio Society (FARS) and the Palo Alto Amateur Radio Association (PAARA) present this ham radio event and fete. This annual event is open to anyone who wants to attend, but reservations are required. All members are encouraged to sign up now for this special annual event. Dinner prices range from $29-$45 per person. Bring a spouse or a friend and of course bring a few dollars for the raffle.

Steve Kushman
President of the California Historical Society


Summary:

Steve talks about the California Historical Radio Society and its' programs, The Bay Area Radio Museum, The Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame and The Society of Wireless Pioneers. Also about the efforts to create a West Coast center devoted to radio and radio history.

Speaker Bio:

Steve Kushman is a San Francisco native with a fascination for radio. He was educated at City College of San Francisco in broadcasting here he served as News Director, Program Director and Station Manager for KALW-FM. For the last 37 years Steve has been employed by ABC / KGO-TV, Ch. 7, and currently serves as senior evening news video editor specializing in day-of-air self contained packages, future feature packages and long form 1/2 and 1 hr special programs.

He has received The Silver Plaque Award from the Chicago International Film Festival and five Emmy Awards for his work.

Steve wrote the body of the proposal that secured the use of the KRE building for CHRS. He has been President of CHRS for 12 years and has been Project Manager for the KRE Restoration Project from its inception in January 2004.

Steve also serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Broadcast Legends.

Directions

The easiest way to find Michael's is to take highway 101 to Mountain View. Exit onto Shoreline Blvd. (aka Stierlin Road) north (towards the bay). Follow for about 1 mile until you reach the gate for Shoreline Park. Alternatively, you can exit onto Amphitheatre Parkway from 101 and follow it north/east (towards the bay) to Shoreline Blvd. Turn left (north) onto Shoreline and follow until you reach the gate for Shoreline Park.

Enter the park through the gate, which will be open. Follow the road (~ 3/4 mi.) in a wide left curve around the park. Look for a sign pointing left for Michael's. Take a left turn and enter the Parking lot. The building next to the parking lot is Michael's.

Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 12:00 noon on Monday, January 14th, 2013. Refunds are paid by check. Allow up to 30 days to receive your refund.

PayPal Payments

Full refunds will be given for cancellations received by 12:00 noon on Monday, January 14th, 2013. However, if the cancellation is more than forty-five (45) days after payment was made, the refund may be reduced to cover processing expenses. Refunds are paid via PayPal. Allow 15 days to receive your refund.
